Salty Black Dog
Backstory:
I was tasked with coming up with a couple of drinks to demo during a virtual happy hour for ARIN 49. The physical meeting was occurring in Nashville, TN in the spring of 2022 so I tried to focus on Tennessee distilleries and spring flavors. This drink is a modification of a classic Salty Dog using pink grapefruit juice and Ole Smoky Moonshine Blackberry.
Ingredients, Drink:
- 3 oz Ole Smoky Moonshine, Blackberry (40 proof) 
- 3 oz Pink Grapefruit Juice 
- 1 Lime Wedge 
Ingredients, Garnish:
- 1 Pink Grapefruit Wedge 
- 1 Blackberry 
- Hawaiian Black Lava Sea Salt 
Method:
- Rim a rocks glass with lime juice and black lava sea salt. 
- Fill the glass with ice. 
- In a separate glass combine the blackberry moonshine, grapefruit juice and squeeze the lime wedge in. Mix well. 
- Pour over the ice in the rocks glass. Depending on the size of your rocks glass you may have leftovers. Adjust volumes as necessary to match your glass size. 
- Garnish with a blackberry and grapefruit wedge speared together with a toothpick.
